Fractional operations support for creative studios

The Ops Dept

About

Hi! My name is Whitney. I’m your friendly neighborhood operations expert.

I studied graphic design and printmaking, then worked in advertising, branding and architecture studios running projects and managing operations for over a decade. I know what it’s like when the work is hitting the mark, but the studio is being held together with sticky notes and dried coffee grounds.

That’s the gap I work in now: taking the “boring” parts of running a business and making them make sense for you, with as little jargon as humanly possible.

I’m here for you when your business has outgrown the stage of “let’s figure it out as we go”; when you’re sick of asking Claude to explain what your accountant is asking for; when you need someone to take the reigns of business operations so you can focus on the work.

Services

You didn’t start your business to spend nights and weekends sending invoices and tracking expenses.

I specialize in fractional operations support for small to mid-size creative practices, usually with 3-20 employees. Every business owner I work with has a very personal connection with their company, which means I don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach. I promise I won’t suggest a tech stack in our onboarding meeting, or hand you a binder of processes that you’ll never open. Our work together will be tailored to your needs with the goal of getting you back to the work you actually want to do.

First things first.

I like to start with a 3 month engagement to get clarity on where your business is at and where the friction is. We’ll look at your finances, project workflows, growth plans… but most importantly, I’ll get to know you and your working style.

At the end of 3 months, we will have a clear understanding of how your business runs and what it needs to run better. This is not a cookie-cutter audit and will be tailored to your specific business and needs. Some focus areas may include strengthening financial systems, optimizing operational workflows, and building scalable infrastructure across admin, business development, and HR functions.

Keep it going.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to leave you hanging. With a strong foundation, I’ll own the operational work that keeps your projects, people and cash flow moving.

This will also be driven by your needs, but may include sending client invoices, managing monthly bills, processing payroll, bookkeeping, software administration, coordination with other vendors (IT, accounting, legal), and any other support you need to keep the lights on.

All this, while you get back to focusing on growing your business and doing the work you love.
